GOSHEN — The United Way of Elkhart County awarded an $8,000 Innovation Grant to Care Foundation Inc. to help fund improvements to the CARE House.
The CARE House is available to patients undergoing cancer treatment at Indiana University Health Goshen Center for Cancer Care. Patients from outside the area, along with a caregiver, can stay at the CARE House while undergoing cancer treatment.
The United Way grant will fund completion of a finished lower level area designed for patients who will return home at night, but have multiple treatments scheduled throughout the day. The area will prevent patients from having to make multiple trips back and forth to the Center for Cancer Care daily and provide a place where patients can be easily contacted.
CARE House Foundation formed in 1999 as a community outreach initiative organized by a group of Primecare Physician Network employees. For more information call board president Karen Boyd at 312-8687 or board member Donna Cole at 238-4465.
