INDIANAPOLIS — Indiana State Police is asking individuals who have submitted firearm permit applications to not request status checks unless the application was submitted outside of the projected processing time.

Processing time for applications that included Morpho Trust USA (formerly L-1 Fingerprinting Solutions) fingerprinting is between 10 to 12 weeks after the applicant’s money order was cashed.

The processing time for applications with paper fingerprint cards is between 15 and 17 weeks from the date the money order was cashed.

Prior criminal history can extend the processing time.

Applicants who have waited longer than the projected time and are requesting a status check should include their full name, date of birth and date that the money order was cashed.

Questions should be emailed to the Indiana State Police Firearms Licensing Section for the quickest response.
