Suicide intervention training offered at SJRMC in Mishawaka

SOUTH BEND — Applied Suicide Intervention Skills Training will take place from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. March 26 and 27 at Saint Joseph Regional Medical Center, 5215 Holy Cross Pkwy., Mishawaka. The interactive, practice-oriented course is facilitated by the Suicide Prevention Center and will help individuals recognize risk and learn how to intervene to prevent the immediate risk of suicide. It is open to anyone, although participants often include nurses, physicians, youth workers, counselors, teachers, school support staff, mental health practitioners, police and emergency service workers or workers in health, welfare or justice. Fee is $150 and includes continental breakfast and lunch both days. Register by March 8. Registration forms are available at www.sjcsuicideprevention.org.
