GOSHEN — Ignition Music/Garage has launched a membership campaign to get people to sign as members of the music store and concert space. Owner Steve Martin said he wants the space to grow and be open to all kinds of artistic ventures.

“The idea was to build sort of a creative hub where people could experience not just music, but poetry readings, author readings,” Martin said.

The basic membership will be $50. Some membership benefits could include special coupons, merchandise discounts, member-only shows, early seating and other rewards.

Martin said he might offer a $25 student membership rate as well. Even though the term “member” connotes exclusivity, Martin said the space will still be available for the general public.

“The venue will always be open to the public,” he said.

Martin hopes to start recording some of the performers who come to Ignition and putting out compilation albums. He also hopes to raise money for “continued enhancements in the room and sound system,” he said.

“It’s more of an invitation for more people to become a part of what’s going on,” Martin said.

Ignition Music/Garage is at 120 E. Washington St., Goshen. For information call 971-8282 or go to www.ignitionmusic.net.
