Bristol Homecoming activities include games, a queen pageant and a parade.
BRISTOL — Bristol invites you to “Discover Our Hometown” today (July 5) through Saturday at the Bristol Homecoming.
The festival traditionally ends with fireworks Saturday evening, and organizers say that hasn’t changed.
“We still plan to have fireworks,” said Bristol Homecoming Committee President Jon Riggs.
Other signature festival events include the Bristol Homecoming Queen pageant this evening, the parade Saturday afternoon and the Pie-In-The-Face Auction, where town notables get “pied” after the parade.
Other festival favorites are back, including the Citizen of the Year award, the tractor pull, the Bristol Fruithills Race, the pie-baking contest, the youth 3-on-3 basketball tournament, and carnival rides and children’s activities in Congdon Park.
A corn hole tournament has been added at 9 a.m. Saturday in the parking lot in Congdon Park. “Corn hole is popular. We think people will enjoy it,” Riggs said.
ADEC will hold a new Summer Art Bazaar, featuring artwork by clients, from noon to 2 p.m. Friday at the ADEC Bristol campus, 19670 S.R. 120.
Also new are steak sandwiches by the Knights of Columbus Saturday before the parade and haystack dinners at the Masonic Lodge Friday and Saturday.
Music at the festival will cover a variety of genres. Tonight, Shock Roxy will play a selection ranging from the ’80s to today’s top contemporary artists. Sucker Punch will entertain Friday evening with music from the ’50s, ’60s and ’70s. The Heartland Country Cloggers will step up at 4 p.m. Saturday, while The Source will take the stage Saturday evening.
