Beacon Health System is partnering with the Indiana Organ Procurement Organization and Indiana Lions Eye Bank to facilitate organ, eye and tissue donation. Activities at Memorial Hospital take place Wednesday; activities at Elkhart General Hospital take place through April 27.

Two worship and prayer events will be held May 1 in downtown Goshen on the court house lawn to recognize National Day of Prayer.

 Charlotte and Sophia Duarte recently moved to Nappanee from California, and on Saturday, April 20, 2013 they enjoyed their first taste of 'elephant ears' at the Wakarusa Maple Syrup Festival with their close friend Courtney Schmucker (left) also of Nappanee.

 Elkhart resident Terry Trost smiles Wednesday, April 23, 2014, as she talks about her recovery from the fungal meningitis outbreak that caused her long illness. Trost still has issues with fatigue, but is improving and is now able to complete housework and even participate in water aerobics class.

The luncheon honors individuals who give significant time and talents to support older adults and the disabled. It is set for 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. May 8 at Century Center, 120 S. St. Joseph St., South Bend.

 Engineers at the University of Notre Dame have formed a group called Engineering to Empower. Their goal is to teach Haitians how to build safe, secure homes that are affordable.
