The Middlebury Summer Festival offers fun for the whole family Friday, Aug. 8, and Saturday, Aug. 9.
Melvino from the Kelly Miller Circus will be at the festival around 10 a.m. Saturday and will be cruising the festival looking for opportunities to clown around.
The festival is distinctive for having one of the largest small-town parades. The parade begins at 1 p.m. Saturday on Main Street.
Melvino will be in the parade on his unicycle. After the parade he will put on a show in the Entertainment Tent for children of all ages. Tickets for the Kelly Miller Circus at Essenhaus on Aug. 23 will be on sale at the festival.
Friday night, the children will have games just for them on Bristol Avenue, across from the fire station. On Saturday night, adults can play Minute to Win It in East Park. Participants will sign up to be on teams and complete challenges using household items with 60 seconds on the clock.
“It’s another way for people to come downtown for the festival and have fun,” said festival chair Alyssa Yutzy.
DANG!, a band formed by local teachers, will perform at 6 p.m. Friday. On Saturday, High Life will play rock and pop music from the past at 5:30. Whistle Pigs, a 7-piece dance band, will end the evening Saturday, playing contemporary classic rock, funk and rhythm and blues.
