Middlebury Town Council approves fundings for water main extension project

The project is a cooperative effort between the town, the county and Jayco.

Key action: Held a public hearing and passed an ordinance for an additional appropriation of $110,000 from the Elroy Drive Industrial TIF district allocation fund to extend and loop water mains on the southeast end of town in and around the Jayco campus. The use of the Elroy Drive TIF funds for the project is part of an agreement between the town, Jayco and the Elkhart County Redevelopment Commission to improve water pressure and quality.

Other actions:

  • Approved partial substantial completion of the contract with Selge Construction for work improving the Hoover, North, Spring Valley I and Antler sewage lift stations. Approved extending the time frame for substantial completion of the entire project to Aug. 1, with final completion expected by Aug. 15.
  • Approved taking less from the general fund and more from the cumulative capital development fund for the circuit breaker tax caps for the town.
  • Approved the use of Memorial and East Parks and street closures for both the Middlebury Summer Festival, Aug. 8-9, and the Middlebury Fall Festival, Sept. 19-20.
