Meeting: Middlebury Town Council

When: Monday, June 2

Key action: Approved street closures for a few blocks on Crystal Valley and Brown streets during the Pumpkinvine Bike Ride on June 21. Last year the ride attracted about 1,200 bicyclists. Middlebury is the hub of the ride, with bicyclists going to Goshen, Shipshewana and Bonneyville Mill County Park. The street closures will be from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m. during the ride.

Other actions: Approved a pay application to Selge Construction for improvements to the town wastewater lift stations at the amount of $59,258.49. Approved a change order for the lift station improvements to extend the time of the project by 28 days, change the ground cover from sod to stone at the Spring Valley 2 lift station, and to install heaters in the Antler and North lift station cabinets because they have special controls that need to be protected in cold weather. The changes come to an increase of $3,568.35.

Found Meijer to be in substantial compliance to the terms they agreed to for tax abatements they received on real and personal property.
