The public is invited to the grand opening and open house of Community Occupational Medicine in Middlebury from 1 to 3 p.m. Thursday, May 15. A ribbon-cutting ceremony will be held during the open house.

COM helps 850 employers in Elkhart County keep their employees healthy through occupational health services including injury treatment, employment physicals, drug and alcohol screening, physical therapy, minor surgery, risk management, and wellness and preventative services. Although COM is primarily an occupational health services provider, it will provide basic urgent care services to the general public.

Elkhart General Hospital bought COM in March, bringing the resources of Elkhart General Hospital’s parent company, Beacon Health System, to its services. COM has two locations in Elkhart and one in Goshen, as well as the new Middlebury location.

“We are looking for opportunities to expand, and there is a need in Middlebury for occupational health services. We are happy to help out. We try to be a service, a resource for our communities. It is a win-win for the community and for us,” said Joseph Garrastegui, Marketing and Client Services Manager for COM.
