GOSHEN — Two development projects along the Millrace Canal in the city are a step closer in their plans.

During a meeting Tuesday, July 15, the Goshen City Council approved to rezone the property where the Hawks Building is located to allow it to be a unit for residential and commercial activities. This puts Hawks 1886 LLC a step ahead in their project.

Hawks 1886 proposed to the city the use of north side of the Hawks Building to build a brewpub on the first floor of the building and a boutique hotel on the second and third floors

The city council also approved to rezone property near the Millrace canal from industrial to residential, where Millrace Neighborhood LLC wants to build a co-housing neighborhood

The developer’s plan is to build a 14-unit intergenerational community for “like-minded individuals.”

Developer Richard Miller told the council four families have already shown interest in living in the co-housing community and that he would like to be able to break ground by the end of the year if possible.
