GOSHEN — Work is underway for the construction of a playground at Chamberlain Elementary School in Goshen, but more volunteers are needed, said parent-teacher organization (PTO) president Jess Elliott.

The PTO raised $91,000 over the last five years to purchase new equipment. Parts of the old playground equipment were rusted and boarded up, Elliott said.

Volunteers started working at 7 a.m. Thursday, June 26. The plan was for volunteers to meet at the school and work in two shifts from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. between Thursday and Saturday. Lunch and breakfast are being provided.

Volunteers got more than a quarter of a the way through with construction Thursday afternoon, but Elliott said they could still use plenty of volunteers.

Anyone interested in volunteering is encouraged to show up at the playground Friday or Saturday between 7:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., or call the school at 534-2691. Chamberlain Elementary is located at 428 N. 5th St.
