GOSHEN — The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer might just leave the stage black and blue after they rock out this weekend at Ignition Music Garage in downtown Goshen.
Who are the Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer? With Shawn “The Harpoonist” Hall singing and playing blues harmonica and Matthew “The Axe Murderer” Rogers on guitar and percussion, the duo reverberates with raw, bluesy style. The Harpoonist and the Axe Murderer released their self-titled album in 2008 and followed up in 2011 with “Checkered Past.” The band’s next album, “A Real Fine Mess,” is scheduled to come out June 17. The band has been nominated for multiple Maple Blues Awards and won Blues Act of the Year at the SiriusXM Indies in 2013. Hall and Rogers have played at South by Southwest, Winnipeg Folk Fest, Ottawa Blues Fest, Calgary Folk Fest and Montreal Jazz Fest. The band’s music has been featured on television shows including “The Good Wife,” “Blue Bloods” and the TV movie “Lizzie Borden Took an Axe.”
