Goshen board opens bids for concrete work, accepts post-construction plans for local projects

GOSHEN — The Goshen Board of Public Works and Safety voted on the following actions at a meeting Monday, April 7:

  • The board opened a pair of bids for concrete service for the Water and Sewer Department’s street repairs. The first offer came from JW Concrete Inc. in Osceola for $9,150, and the second bid was from Aggregate Industries in Goshen for $72,300.
  • The board approved two sewer credits for water leaks. The first was for $549 for 215 The Willows, and the second was for $71 for 516 River Ave.
  • Ignition Music Garage plans to block parking spots in front of the music venue and record shop at 215 E. Washington St. to allow artists to unload equipment into the building. Parking spots will be blocked on Sunday, April 13, May 1, May 9, May 22, May 30 and June 8.
  • The board approved a request from Rachel’s Bread to allow multiple taps from a public water main at 212 W. Washington St. The business has requested to lease a room previously occupied by Sweetwater Interiors. Rachel’s Bread wants to add a three-bay sink and a sink for hand washing. Sweetwater will continue to be responsible for the billing.
  • The board issued an electrical license for the city of Goshen to William Brockie of Brockie Electric in South Bend.
  • The board signed an agreement with Brads-Ko Engineering and Surveying for $1,575 to complete deed research and the preparation of a legal description and parcel drawing for an easement at 20622 S.R. 119 where the city has a bike path.
  • The board accepted post-construction plans from the developers of four building projects – the Hawks Furniture building south parking lot in the 200 block of West Madison Street, Lippert Components Manufacturing at 3414 Corrie Drive, Old Dominion Truck Leasing at 1768 Eisenhower Drive North and Family Dollar at 1819 Elkhart Road.
  • The board’s meeting scheduled for Monday, April 14, has been moved to 2 p.m. Friday, April 11, at the council chambers.
