GOSHEN - Downtown Goshen is inviting visitors to indulge at February's First Fridays on Feb. 7.

"Sweet Indulgence" is highlighted by deals, promotions and items that those participating in the event can enjoy and take advantage of.

Many downtown merchants will offer special deals on retail items, food and drinks as part of the festivities just a week before Valentine's Day.

Visitors can take a break from eating and shopping to take in a movie at Art House.

The independent film theater will be screening "Medora," a movie about a southern Indiana high school basketball team fighting to win a game as the town itself struggles.

The film's associate producer, Ellyn Church, is an Elkhart native and will hold a question and answer session following the show.

Friday will also feature some entertainment for music lovers.

Backyard Brass, a brass band comprised of local musicians, will play at Goshen City Church of the Brethren from 5:30 p.m. until 7:30 p.m.

The church will also offer walking tacos, consisting of a bag of chips, hamburger, tomatoes, lettuce and cheese, for donations.

Local musicians will also be performing at the Goshen Historical Museum throughout the evening. They will entertain while visitors peruse a Valentine's-themed display.

Better World Books will host two authors who will be signing copies of their books in the store.

Kendallville-based writer Nick Hayden will sign copies of "The Unremarkable Squire," while local author Diane Stratton will be on hand for her debut novel, "Arrivals and Departures."

Visitors that get hungry can also stop in to The Window, 223 S. Main St., from 4:30 p.m. until 8 p.m. for a meal prepared by Berkey Avenue Fellowship Church.

For a suggested donation of $8, individuals will receive a meal of ham, au gratin potatoes, harvest beets, salad and dessert bars.
