One taken to IU Health Goshen after two-car crash Saturday
Goshen man injured in head-on crash Saturday.
GOSHEN – A Goshen man was taken to IU Health Goshen Hospital after a two-car crash north of Goshen on Saturday afternoon, Jan. 25.
According to a release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, Stephanie Strouder, 30, of Goshen, was driving south on S.R. 15, north of C.R. 126, just before 5 p.m. Saturday.
Stouder was driving too fast for the road conditions, according to the release, and came upon a slow-moving vehicle.
Stouder drove left of center to avoid hitting the rear of the vehicle, but instead crashed head-on into another vehicle driven by James Burkholder, 73, of Goshen, who was headed north on S.R. 15.
Burkholder was taken to IU Health Goshen.
Stouder was cited for conditions requiring driving at a reduced speed.
This story originally stated James Burkholder was taken to the hospital due to loss of feeling in his legs. Those who know Burkholder have informed The Truth that he has been paralyzed from the waist down for 18 years and those that know him may have found the story confusing.
Capt. Jim Bradberry with the Elkhart County Sheriff's Department said the injury information contained in the department's press release on the crash was due to a miscommunication between Burkholder and the responding officer.
