ELKHART — Almost 1,000 miles apart, the City with a Heart paid tribute this weekend to the City that Care Forgot in the best possible way – with music.

The 27th year of the Elkhart Jazz Festival celebrated the music of New Orleans like no other. Musicians from all over the country converged at the three-day festival, and though they all have different backgrounds and play various styles of jazz, they have one common thread – an appreciation for the upbeat tempos and wailing ballads that came from the streets of New Orleans.

I have lived in Elkhart for about two-and-a-half years, but I’m lucky, and extremely proud, to call New Orleans home. Here is playlist I put together with some of my favorite New Orleans artists. Listen and enjoy.
