Crews responded to gas leak on Union Street

NIPSCO has repaired a leak that happened around 10:30 a.m. after public works employees struck a gas line.

ELKHART — A gas leak at 309 Union St. on the city’s west side has been repaired as of 12:20 p.m., according to a NIPSCO representative.

Crews were called to the area around 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 27, after public works crews accidentally struck a gas line as they were working on a water main.

Union Street between Franklin and Hudson streets were closed off as NIPSCO crews repaired the leak.
