The Historic Roosevelt Tenant Association is sponsoring a community water fight called the WET Bash on July 12. People can bring water guns and balloons to Roosevelt Center Park on Garfield Avenue and Prairie Street.
The Elkhart Fire Department will close off Garfield Avenue from Prairie Street to Stevens Avenue and spray water from fire trucks into the park. Organizers will also set up water troughs so people can refill their water guns and balloons.
The event was initiated by Elkhart resident Quentin Clarkson, said LaCasa community organizer Jason Moreno. Clarkson has been organizing neighborhood water fights on Indiana Avenue as well.
The WET Bash is open to the public.
Moreno is soliciting donations to rent bounce houses for the event. To make a donation, email firstname.lastname@example.org.
