ELKHART — Two downtown railroad crossings will be closed beginning Wednesday, including one for two weeks.

The crossing on South Main Street will be closed for two weeks while the Prairie Street crossing to the south will be closed for two days.

The closures are needed so Norfolk Southern Railroad crews can do work on the tracks, according to a statement released by the city of Elkhart.

The best detour is to use the Benham Avenue underpass to the west of Main Street.
