Elkhart native, pianist Nicholas Roth to appear on ‘A Prairie Home Companion’

ELKHART — Elkhart native and pianist Nicholas Roth will join radio host Garrison Keillor this weekend on the popular program, “A Prairie Home Companion.”

Roth will appear on the episode airing locally on WVPE 88.1 FM at 6 p.m. Saturday, May 3, and 10 a.m. Sunday, May 4.

Roth is an accomplished musician who works as an associate piano professor at Drake University in Des Moines, Iowa. He has performed as a soloist with major orchestras and has appeared in concerts and music festivals around the world

Though he lives in Iowa, Roth often returns to his hometown for performances. He will play Camille Saint-Saens’ Piano Concerto No. 5 on June 14 at the Lerner Theatre in downtown Elkhart.

“A Prairie Home Companion” is taking its show on the road next year and will broadcast an episode live May 2, 2015, from Goshen College as part of its Performing Arts Series.
