ELKHART — Looking for a free tree?

The city of Elkhart will celebrate Arbor Day Saturday, April 26, at the Elkhart Environmental Center and will be giving away trees during the event.

Activities begin at 10 a.m. and continue until 3 p.m. at the center at 1717 Lusher Ave.

Among the activities will be tree planting demonstrations at 10:30 a.m. and 1:30 p.m.; A spring plant exchange at 11 a.m.; A proclamation by Mayor Dick Moore at noon and a log milling demonstration at 12:30 p.m.

Forester Dan Coy will also discuss the emerald ash borer.

Opportunities to receive a free tree will continue during the event.

Admission is free and free food will be sponsored by Olive Garden, according to a news release from the city.
