Elkhart County Historical Museum hosts former Partly Dave Coffee House manager
BRISTOL — Coffee, community and local history are the focus of an upcoming event hosted by the Elkhart County Historical Museum.
John Kampen, a Partly Dave Coffee House manager from 1968 to 1971, will discuss his experiences at the former ministry at 7 p.m. Friday, April 25.
This event is hosted in conjunction with the museum’s ongoing temporary exhibit, "For Love, For Friends, For Questions: Elkhart’s Partly Dave Coffee House, 1966-1975."
Kampen will explore different groups' viewpoints about the coffee house ministry, according to a press release. He'll also discuss some of the main values that held the coffee house together, and how they contributed to its impact on the past and future.
Kampen, now a professor of biblical interpretation at Methodist Theological School in Ohio, used to live about the coffee house on Main Street in Elkhart while he worked there.
The event is supported by the Electric Brew. The museum will provide free coffee and light snacks.
The Elkhart County Historical Museum is located at 304 W Vistula St., Bristol. The presentation will be in the community building.
