Two projects happening locally will help feed hungry people.

Pantries and Kitchens United of Elkhart County, a coalition of food pantries in the county, is having an emergency food drive Saturday, April 12, at three locations.

Food can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Martin's Super Markets stores on Jackson Street, Cobblestone Crossing and Concord Mall Drive in Elkhart.

Cash donations for this drive can be mailed to Pantries and Kitchens United Elkhart Country c/o Brenda Spence, Bristol Community Food Pantry, P.O. Box 757, Bristol.

For questions, call Brenda Spence at 333-8959.

Meijer is also double-matching customers' donations to local pantries from April 11-12.

The store will donate $20 for every $10 Simply Give donation card that customers purchase. Then the $30 donation will be given to a local food pantry, which is chosen by each Meijer store.

Simply Give donation cards are near the checkout, grocery and pharmacy departments at Meijer. They are available until May 12, but the store's offer of double matching donations is only for April 11 and 12.
