ELKHART — Jessica Hardy isn’t allowed to reveal much about her upcoming appearance on “The Price is Right,” but let’s just say there’s a lot of dancing.

Hardy, an Elkhart native who lives in Los Angeles, is used to being in front of the camera as an actress working on television shows and movies, but when the announcer told her to “come on down,” she was stunned.

“I thought I would be more prepared,” she said. “But when they called my name, I was in total shock.”

Hardy grew up watching “The Price is Right,” and her in-laws bought tickets to a taping of the game show during their visit to Hollywood in February. Alan Kado, Hardy’s father-in-law, and his wife are big fans of the show and were excited to scratch the taping off their bucket list. He was amazed by the complexity of what goes on behind the scenes — lots of cameras, producers, assistants running around and organized chaos.

“We can’t wait to watch the episode,” Kado said. “It was a fun experience.”

As an actress and a fan of comedy, Hardy enjoyed meeting host Drew Carey.

“He was really awesome,” she said. “He was really funny. He was very personable and just a really nice guy.”

Sworn to secrecy via a confidentiality agreement, Hardy can’t say anything about the outcome of the show before it is broadcast. Family and friends are planning a watch party at Concord Mall when the episode airs at 11 a.m. April 8 on CBS. Hardy, the founder of the Chicago Comedy Film Festival, will be in town to judge Elkhart Civic Theatre’s first improv festival and competition.

“If you want to see me dancing like a crazy person, watch,” she said. “I just couldn’t stop dancing. It will pretty fun to watch.”
