ELKHART — Hopefully warm-weather lovers enjoyed Monday because a new round of snow is expected to leave up to 8 inches of snow in Elkhart County by Wednesday morning.

The National Weather Service issued a winter storm watch in effect Tuesday night, March 11, through Wednesday afternoon.

According to the weather service, moderate to heavy snow will spread over the area Tuesday night into Wednesday as a strengthening low pressure system tracks east through southern Indiana and Ohio.

Snow is expected to accumulate between 4 and 8 inches.

Other counties affected by the snowstorm include St. Joseph, LaGrange, Steuben, La Porte and Fulton in Indiana and Cass in Michigan.

According to the weather service, heavy snow with accumulations in excess of an inch per hour and winds of 25 to 35 mph could make for difficult travel conditions on Wednesday. Snow and sleet accumulations could also affect travel.
