The Bristol Homecoming Festival is celebrating “Winter in July” on Thursday, Friday and Saturday, July 10 to 12.

“We picked the theme last August,” said Cathy Burke, festival committee member. “Who knew we were going to have the winter we had?”

Even so, the festival committee hopes everyone comes out to enjoy the Bristol Homecoming’s “cool” attractions, including carnival rides, food and vendor booths, a tractor pull Friday evening, the Bristol Homecoming Parade at 2 p.m. Saturday and fireworks at dusk Saturday evening.

The Bristol Homecoming Pageant will be at the Bristol Church of the Nazarene at 7 p.m. Thursday evening. Other events include children’s games, the 3 on 3 youth basketball tournament and a watermelon eating contest.

On Thursday evening, M&M Acoustics will perform. Friday evening’s live entertainment is Drive 70s. Johnny Sprocket will take the stage Saturday evening.

Bristol Homecoming is believed to be the oldest town festival in Indiana, starting in 1883 as the Bristol Harvest Fest. While Congdon Park is the center of the festival, but events will take place all over Bristol.
