ELKHART – The National Weather Service of Northern Indiana issued a dense fog advisory this morning that lasted until about 1 p.m.
The weather service warned fog reduced visibility in the area to one quarter mile or less. The service said fog and mist that dropped to temperatures below freezing could create icy patches on roads – particularly on bridges and overpasses.
Drivers were told to do so with caution – drive slowly, use headlights and leave plenty of distance between cars on the road, the weather service said.
The advisory was issued for Elkhart, St. Joseph, La Porte and LaGrange counties, among others.
