ELKHART — The cities of Elkhart and Goshen have announced plans for Christmas tree recycling.
In Elkhart, residents have two choices between Monday, Jan. 6, and Jan. 17.
Elkhart residents can leave trees along the curb side for pick-up or drop off the trees at their choice of four locations.
The locations are: West Side Middle School parking lot on Nappanee Street; North Side Middle School parking lot near the track on Bristol Street; Riverview softball diamond parking lot on Riverview Avenue behind the school, and Pierre Moran Pool parking lot behind Pierre Moran School on Lusher Avenue.
Goshen’s tree recycling runs from Jan. 2 to Jan. 17. Residents can place trees at the curb, but no collections will be made from city alleys and it is not part of trash collection.
Goshen residents can also drop off trees at the Environmental Center on North Indiana Avenue and C.R. 19 on weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Representatives from both cities note that all ornaments, garland, lights and tree stands should be removed prior to recycling.
