VOLLEYBALL Blue Blazers’ Stahl MVP of NIC

SOUTH BEND — Elkhart Central senior Azariah Stahl was voted Northern Indiana Conference volleyball MVP for 2013 by league coaches.

NIC champion Marian placed three players — seniors Jordan Beuter and Allison Ketcham and junior Maggie Gibson — on the All-NIC first team.

Penn seniors Aly Schneider and Alayna Wozniak are also first-teamers.

Marian’s Dan Anderson was chosen by his peers as NIC Coach of the Year.

Second team: jr. Elizabeth Asell (Marian), jr. Alyssa Hasler (Marian), jr. Kassidy Meiss (Penn), sr. Taylor Shreiner (Elkhart Central), sr. Kate Cobb (Elkhart Central), sr. Nicole Francouer (SB St. Joseph), sr. Amber Kish (SB Washington), sr. Kaitlin Elasser (Mishawaka).

Area honorable mention: Penn — jr. Sarah Ross. Elkhart Central — sr. Ally Delks.

Final NIC standings: Marian 8-0, Penn 7-1, Elkhart Central 6-2, SB St. Joseph 5-3, SB Washinagton 4-4, Mishawaka 3-5, SB Adams 2-6, SB Clay 1-7, SB Riley 0-8.
