ELKHART — Casey Ianigro, an Elkhart Central High School graduate, has committed to continue his academic and baseball careers at Manchester University, an NCAA Division III school in North Manchester, Ind.
“This is a great fit for Casey,” said Central coach Steve Stutsman. “He will be able to contribute immediately. Casey is a very versatile player who can play three infield positions plus the outfield. He also is an excellent baserunner. Casey works hard and want to improve everyday.”
In helping the Blue Blazers defend their sectional title in 2012, Ianigro hit .386 with 2 triples, 6 doubles, 21 runs batted in, 13 runs scored and 6 stolen bases. He also had a .470 on-base average and .561 slugging percentage.
The Rick Espeset-coached Manchester Spartans went 28-21 overall, 14-11 in the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and came within one game of the D-III World Series in 2012.
