INDIANAPOLIS — An afternoon spent hunting for morel mushrooms is enough to make anyone hungry. The Department of Natural Resources has provided two simple but creative recipes involving morels in its “Cookin’ Gone Wild: Recipes for Indiana Wild Game” cook book.
The recipe for morel stuffed bacon cups takes less than half an hour and can serve as an appetizer. The moral mushroom cream sauce pairs with meat, pasta or vegetables for a main course meal.
Cookin’ Gone Wild also includes recipes for bluegill meatloaf muffins, pecan cherry wild rice and venison Parmesan.
The cook book is available on DNR’s website as a PDF, which can be downloaded to a computer and some eReader devices. There are also videos on the website for visual assistance.
