Christmas and Advent events.
Posted on Dec. 7, 2013 at 12:00 a.m.

The second ecumenical Advent Centering Prayer service will take place promptly at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 9, at College Mennonite Church, 1700 S. Main St., Goshen, in the Koinonia room. Good parking is available on the south side of the church, and signs on the doors will guide you to the proper place. The service lasts about half an hour. All are invited to stay for a cup of tea and fellowship afterward. Being with others during Centering Prayer is a practice in spiritual growth. Come to this time of guided prayer and invite others who may be interested. No sign up is required; just come join the Mystery that Advent invites.

Free Gospel Bible Institute is performing “A Christmas Revelation” at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7, at Servant’s Heart Community Church, hosted by Biblical Church of Acts, 400 W. Mishawaka Road, Elkhart. For questions call or text (434) 825-0846.

St. James AME Church, 122 King Drive, Elkhart, is celebrating Christmas with a Candy Cane Ball and Dinner at 6 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 7. Call 295-7010 or 294-4950 for ticket information. Only advance ticket sales.

Emma Mennonite Church’s Men’s Chorus will give two special Christmas programs on Sunday, Dec. 8. North Goshen Mennonite Church, 501 N. Eighth St., Goshen, will host the first event at 2:30 p.m. The group also will sing at 6:30 p.m. at their home church in Emma Town, 1900 S. 600 W., Topeka. Finger food will be served following the 6:30 program. For directions or for more information, go to www.emmamc.org or call 260-593-2036.

Nappanee Missionary Church, two miles north of Nappanee on S.R. 19 at C.R. 50, will host their 27th annual Christmas musical at 6 p.m. Saturday and Sunday, Dec. 14 and 15.

Under the direction of Don Rohrer, associate pastor, and featuring the Nappanee Missionary Church worship choir and orchestra, this musical has become a Christmas tradition to many. The message of the musical, entitled “Come, Messiah King,” is a clear reminder of the truth of Christmas in this often chaotic and stressful holiday season. On Saturday night only, free coffee, cookies and cider will be offered from 5 to 5:45 p.m. in the church’s grand hall. Ted Yoder, a recognized expert on the hammered dulcimer, will provide special Christmas music during this time.

The musical will have dozens of local musicians and artists singing original music and holiday classics and will provide a time to join in and sing along. Lighting, drama and special effects add to the experience. Dave Engbrecht, senior pastor, invites the public to any and all of the weekend’s activities. For information contact the church office at 773-7773, or www.nmconline.net.
