In voting among his peers and Truth staffers, he beats out Rhodes, Thomas and Wolfe, among others.

Elkhart Central Blue Blazers went 32-1 overall, 14-0 in the Northern Indiana Conference and won it all in Class 4A.

 Penn junior Jordan Geist (12) looks for a shot as Concord's Filip Serwatka (tallest player directly behind Geist) and Danny McMahon (50) defend in Michigan City Regional play on March 15. Geist is an IBCA Underclass All-State first-team pick, while Serwatka is on the honorable mention list.

Eleven other area players, including six on the senior list, receive honorable mention accolades.

 Elkhart Area Career Center machine trades student Trevor Werker of Northridge uses a lathe as he sands a baseball bat. Several students from the center won awards recently at a skills and leadership conference in Indianapolis.

Students pursuing careers in technical fields were recognized by SkillsUSA for their talents.

 Northridge senior Nate Ritchie (40) hugs fans after the Raiders' win. Northridge boys' basketball defeated Concord 62-59 and won the NLC on Thursday, Feb. 13 2014 in Middlebury. The win gave the Raiders a 7-0 record in conference games.

Five students from Penn, three from Northridge, two each from Elkhart Christian Academy and NorthWood garner honorable mention nods.
