 Cobus Creek, viewed from Elkhart Road, opposite the outlet to Garver Lake in Ontwa Township, Mich. A proposed sewage treatment plant nearby that would discharge into the creek, which flows into Elkhart County, has generated the opposition of Elkhart officials.

Critics in Michigan and Elkhart County worry the proposed sewer plant would harm Cobus Creek.

The Elkhart Board of Public Works cites misleading information in the proposal in a formal letter to Michigan officials.
