If I were a betting person (and I am not), I would wager if you interviewed 1,000 hardened criminals, you would find that three-quarters or more were beaten out of anger or frustration but never spanked in love.

I want a person of integrity, honesty and character who has the foundational beliefs that will serve us best as our voice in Indianapolis. Without a doubt this individual is Doug Miller.

 A group called Vote No in Concord hopes to encourage people not to vote for Concord schools' referendum in May.

No tax increase. No more money. Make the cuts. Make the hard choices. The schools don’t have a funding problem. They have a spending problem.

Indiana Republicans are once again involving themselves with social issues that invade our privacy. Big government at work! Republicans not only want to decide our right-to-life issues, but now they want to decide who should and should not marry.

It is regrettable that the Indiana state budget, with its cap on property taxes, has negated the importance of education by making school corporations cut and squeeze the last penny until they must ask us to vote on a referendum.

If INDOT has so much money, maybe it should repair some of the roads we already have. Is that too much ask?

Simply put, if we don’t pass the referendum on May 6, starting this fall many additional teachers will be laid off and many more important programs will be stopped, damaging both the quality and types of education available for the kids who attend Concord.

We need to pass the May 6 referenda to maintain current resources to keep preparing future students as well as I was prepared.

Is it any wonder that this nation is in such a financial quagmire when we spend 38 percent more money for Pentagon purposes than we spend on diplomacy intended to reduce the threat of warfare and its related expenses?
