The voters of the 2nd U.S. House District have once again been lied to and betrayed by a Republican.
Several years ago I attended a large fundraiser for Jackie Walorski at which she held up a copy of the U.S. Constitution and said that if elected she would uphold that Constitution.
On March 3, The Elkhart Truth published an article by Tim Vandenack in which he reported that Jackie received a 62 percent conservative rating for her votes in 2013 from the Club for Growth. The New American rates Walorski even lower at 55 percent covering her votes on 20 of the major pieces of legislation. The Freedom Index rates congressmen based on their adherence to constitutional principles of limited government, fiscal responsibility, national sovereignty, and a traditional foreign policy of avoiding foreign entanglements. She scored 55 percent, meaning that she voted with liberal Republicans and Democrats 45 percent of the time. That is not what we should expect from somebody who claims to be a conservative Republican wanting the support of the tea party.
The news is full of reports of how a real tea party conservative just defeated Republican Eric Cantor in Virginia in his primary election. Eric Cantor has only a 45 percent Freedom Index conservative voting record and should have been removed years ago.
A true constitutional conservative should have run and defeated Walorski in our last primary, but she was unopposed. Let's hope she learns a lesson from the Virginia election and decides to live up to the oath of office she took when she first went to Washington. Our nation is in big trouble. Foreign entanglements and deficit spending are going to bring on hyperinflation and be a disaster for us all. Politicians like Walorski who just want to please the party bosses and get re-elected are the problem.
