It has been weeks since we experienced Still Dancing in Elkhart, a fundraiser to benefit the Samaritan Center, and the gifts we received that night are still making an impact on the clients who visit this benevolent organization.
For those who weren’t there Nov. 8, our celebrity dancers — Joel Duthie, Elizabeth Bond, Ellen Janowsky, Andrew Skipper, Kevin Wirt, Mary Whitt, Bill Burton and Karen Smith — raised more than $160,000 at the beautiful Lerner Theatre in downtown Elkhart. These dancers, along with the event’s many volunteers and generous sponsors, put forth a tremendous effort to bring awareness to our mission.
The Samaritan Center is using the $160,000 raised at Still Dancing in Elkhart to help provide counseling services to the community. The center will also be using the funds to hire a new clinical supervisor. We are hoping the new clinical supervisor can help us develop new programs. Additionally, a small portion of the funds raised will go toward our spruce-up campaign.
We enter 2014 knowing we can continue to provide clinical and faith-integrated healing services in Elkhart County, and we once again thank you for lending us the gift of yourselves to benefit this worthwhile charity. We look forward to November when we will do it again!
