I’m getting just a little weary on hearing how the Catholic Church is against supplying birth control to its employees. Birth control is far from the only objection. The media should report that along with birth control there are also abortion chemicals, the morning-after pill and other drugs included in the ACA. Most important, the First Amendment allows the free practice of religion.
We do not allow prayer in public schools but allow Muslims to pray in our schools and also in our prisons. How can this be?
We seem to be tolerant of everyone except Catholics. There are other Christian faiths that are also against this part of the ACA.
As to insurance, some of these institutions and corporations in question are self-insured. If they apply for a waiver they still have to, in effect, go against Catholic doctrine. I thought separation of church and state went both ways.
Shame on the media for not telling the whole story and trying to sugarcoat reality.
