Christmas brings hope to a sinful world

I just read where Illinois has become the 16th state to officially legalize homosexual marriage.

This action is contrary to what Jesus said in Matthew 19: 4-5.

God’s original creation was a beautiful place, full of joy and without sin. God created Adam and Eve in a perfect paradise.

But Adam and Eve disobeyed God and ate of the forbidden fruit. This is where sin had its awful beginning. The world was no longer perfect, but a sin-cursed world. We all are descendants of Adam and Eve.

The Bible says we are all born with certain sinful tendencies such as adultery, lying, stealing, murder, homosexuality, etc.

But even in this cursed world, there is hope.

Motivated by love, God became a man through a virgin birth 2,000 years ago. Only God could be the savior. Only Jesus Christ has the required credentials, not anyone else. Jesus then died on the cross and rose from the dead. He paid the penalty for our sins in full. All we have to do is confess and turn from sin and trust in Jesus Christ, and God will forgive our sins and grant eternal life with him in heaven. God included everyone in his plan for salvation (John 3:16).

So, instead of living a sinful lifestyle based on what feels good and seems natural, we need to trust Jesus to receive a new heart with new desires pleasing to God.

The birth of Jesus Christ on Christmas Day has and will always bring hope to a sinful world.
