ELKHART — The Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department on Wednesday added a murder charge to the arrest of Michael T. Shoun.
Shoun, 26, was arrested on unrelated charges Saturday, Nov. 2, at a home on C.R. 1 in Granger where the body of 17-year-old Tiana E. Alter was found.
The Elkhart County coroner ruled Alter’s death a homicide and said she died of multiple sharp force injuries.
The case has been sent to the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office with a request for formal charges to be filed, according to a news release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.
Shoun, of Granger, was arrested Saturday on warrants for three court cases, in which he has been charged with failure to return to lawful detention, operating a vehicle as a habitual traffic violator, resisting law enforcement and possession of marijuana.
