ELKHART — Police are investigating whether a burglary happened in the southeast side of Elkhart Tuesday morning, Oct. 15.
Elkhart police and emergency medical personnel were called to 2125 Toledo Road on reports of a burglary in the 20 East Apartments complex around 11:45 a.m., according to local dispatchers.
According to a press release from the police department, a man was taken to Elkhart General Hospital with an injury to his wrist. He was treated and released.
The press release indicated the police department is looking into the validity of the original report of a burglary in progress.
An officer on scene said the man had been a victim of another crime in the county over the weekend and Elkhart police are working with the sheriff’s department to see if there is a connection between the two incidents.
However, police do not think there is a connection between the incident at the 20 East Apartments and recent home invasions.
“There is no indication that this incident is related to any other recent burglaries or home invasions,” according to the press release.
