Motorcyclist being treated at South Bend Memorial after crash in Elkhart

A motorcyclist is being treated for a broken leg after an accident Friday, Sept. 27, one mile north of Elkhart.

ELKHART — A 57-year-old motorcyclist was taken to South Bend Memorial Hospital after a crash with a vehicle one mile north of Elkhart on Friday evening, Sept. 27.

As of Saturday afternoon, Sept. 28, Michael Colcord of Elkhart was still being treated in the hospital’s emergency room for injuries he received in an accident on North Shore Drive east of Bell Avenue. Colcord suffered a broken leg after his Harley-Davidson was struck by the front tire of a vehicle driven by 87-year-old Shaylor King of Elkhart, according to a report from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.

No citations were issued at the scene, though the investigation is ongoing.
