ELKHART — A fire in a railroad car on the south side of Elkhart Friday afternoon caused minimal damage, firefighters said.
Baugo Township firefighters were called at 12:40 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 13 to 2600 West Lusher Ave. on reports of a railroad box car on fire. The Elkhart Fire Department was called to provide mutual aid.
Baugo Township firefighters said the fire was “very small and very quickly put out.”
The box car was mostly empty at the time and the fire is believed to have been accidental, firefighters said.
