Man in critical condition following accident

A man remains in critical condition after he was hit by a car Thursday, Sept. 5.

GOSHEN — A man remains in critical condition a day after he was hit by a car while riding his bicycle just east of Goshen.

Dale Ewers, 38, of Goshen, was riding his bicycle east on a bike path west of C.R. 127, north of C.R. 28. He started to cross C.R. 127, getting in the path of a sports utility vehicle driven by Milton Bontrager, 68, of Louisville, Ky, who was driving south.

First responders were called at 6:23 p.m. to the scene of the accident.

Ewers was taken to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with injuries to his head and a fractured left leg. Bontrager was not injured as a result of the crash.

No citations were issued at the scene.
