Man arrested in Milford after police find $51,000 worth of cocaine and $23,950 in cash

Police found more than 450 grams of cocaine and nearly $24,000 in cash while searching the man's home.

MILFORD — A man was arrested in Milford Monday, Aug. 19, after a two-month-long investigation led police to his home, where they found $51,000 worth of illegal drugs and nearly $24,000 in cash, along with other items.

Jose Gonzales, 61, was arrested on federal charges possession of cocaine, a schedule II controlled substance, with intent to deliver and distribution of cocaine, a schedule II controlled substance, according to a press release from the Elkhart County Prosecutor’s Office.

The Elkhart County Interdiction and Covert Enforcement (ICE) Unit received a tip approximately two months ago about a person selling cocaine. During the investigation, police learned that cocaine was being sold from 13367 N. 100 E., Milford.

The ICE Unit and the Drug Enforcement Administration executed a search warrant at the home with Goshen Police Department’s ERS Team.

While searching the home, police found “464.7 grams of cocaine, $23,950 in cash and several other items that were indicative of drug distribution,” according to the press release.

Gonzales was taken to the St. Joseph County Jail, where he is being held, according to the press release.
