Arrests made in Elkhart County by local law enforcement July 3-5

This list of Elkhart County arrests was compiled from information sent by the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department and Goshen Police Department July 4-5, 2013. All charges are preliminary and individuals are presumed innocent until proven guilty in a court of law.

It is the policy and practice of The Elkhart Truth to provide the name of individuals arrested on preliminary charges involving drugs, operating a vehicle while intoxicated and all felonies. All efforts are made to ensure accuracy of the information provided and to protect the identities of the victims.

ELKHART

A 37-year-old Goshen man was arrested on a preliminary charge of driving while suspended prior at C.R. 14 and C.R. 17 on July 3.

Leo Stewart Jr., 43, Elkhart, was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating while intoxicated at S.R. 19 and C.R. 4 on July 4.

Christopher Showalter, 27, Goshen, was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating while intoxicated at C.R 17 and C.R. 10 on July 4.

Steve Bates, 24, South Bend, was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating while intoxicated prior at U.S. 33 and U.S. 20 on July 5.

Edward Thomas, 23, Benton Harbor, Mich., was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating while intoxicated at Hively and Benham avenues July 5.

GOSHEN

David Najera, 27, Goshen, was arrested on a preliminary charge of operating a vehicle while being a habitual traffic violator for life in the 800 block of West Pike Street on July 3.

Irma Sanchez, 19, Goshen, was arrested on a preliminary charge of theft at 209 Chicago Ave. on July 3.

Horacio Hernandez Jr., 26, Goshen, was arrested on preliminary charges of operating while intoxicated with a certified blood-alcohol content of 0.10 percent, operating a vehicle without ever receiving a license prior and driving while suspended prior at U.S. 33 and Plymouth Avenue on July 4.

NEW PARIS

Danae Nafziger, 24, Syracuse, was arrested on preliminary charges of possession of marijuana and possession of a controlled substance at C.R. 29 and C.R. 146 on July 3.
