ELKHART — A woman was hospitalized after a two-vehicle accident occurred at the intersection on South Main Street and East Lusher Ave. Wednesday, July 3.
First responders were called at about 12:31 p.m. to the intersection. Tom Weaver, a witness, said a black passenger car hit a red pick-up truck that was stopped at a red light.
Firefighters had to extricate a woman from the car, which received extensive front-end damage.
Sgt. Dan Colson of the Elkhart Police Department said medics believed the woman may have had a medical issue prior to the accident. She did not hit the brakes as she approached the intersection, hitting the truck.
A woman and three children in the truck did not suffer any injuries.
Traffic is being re-directed at Main Street as crews work to clear the accident.
