GOSHEN — A 15-year-old boy died from his injuries when a tractor he was driving overturned Tuesday morning, June 25.
First responders were called at about 11:30 a.m. to 63513 C.R. 111, about five miles west of Goshen, where the accident happened, according to a news release from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department.
Harrison Township firefighter Ron Martin was the scene commander for the incident and said Justin Hoover was driving a tractor towing a manure spreader when the tractor slid backwards down a hill.
The tractor overturned on top of Hoover at the bottom of the hill, causing head trauma, Martin said.
A Medflight helicopter was called, but the boy died before medics were able to take him to the hospital, Martin said.
The sheriff’s department and the coroner’s office are working on the investigation to determine the cause of death.
