Millersburg man flown to hospital following crash

A man was flown to Memorial Hospital with head injuries.

MILLERSBURG — A man hit while driving his bicycle north of Millersburg early Wednesday morning, June 19, is in the hospital listed as in critical condition.

Daniel Yoder, 26, of Millersburg, was flown to Memorial Hospital in South Bend with head injuries following the collision at about 4:44 a.m.

According to a crash report from the Elkhart County Sheriff’s Department, Yoder was riding his bike east on C.R. 40, just east of S.R. 13. A vehicle going in opposite direction driven by Jason Johnson, 39, of Middlebury, crossed left of the center of the road and struck Yoder head-on.

Yoder was unconscious at the time he was transported to the hospital, according to the report.

The car, a 2001 Dodge Stratus, had damage to the front end, hood, windshield and roof, according to the report. Johnson was not injured as a result of the crash.

The sheriff’s department’s Crash Investigation Team is looking further into the crash.
